Hi there, Jessica, and welcome to planDisney!
What would I give to have a relaxing staycation at The Most Magical Place on Earth right about now? I know that you’re counting down the days! There’s so much to do both inside and outside of the theme parks (as my buddies
Alyssa and
Jason talk about in the video on this page), so I’m more than happy to share information about what you could do in your situation.
If your Walt Disney World annual passes have blockout dates, you can’t enter the theme parks with your
annual passes on those days. The Annual Passholder afternoon policy applies to not needing a theme park reservation after 2 p.m. (except Magic Kingdom Park on the weekends). If you want to visit the theme parks on blockout dates, you’ll need another form of valid entry to tap into the magic.
I’m an Annual Passholder, too, and while I am a super fan of the theme parks, I spend most of my on-property stays at the Disney Resorts Collection hotels themselves. If you can’t enter theme parks or if you don’t want to change your dates, I highly recommend checking out everything that your hotel offers. Depending on where you’re taking it easy, you’ll find amazing pools, recreational activities (like kayaking at
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort), horse-drawn carriage rides, Surrey bikes, arts and crafts, and more. Not only can you do activities at your own hotel, but I like park hopping to other hotels for yummy dinners and satisfying shopping.
AN EXTRA GEM: Does your annual pass include the Water Park and Sports Option? If so, the theme park blockout dates do not apply to the Disney Water Parks. Perhaps take advantage of that perk and splash over to
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park on a day or two. You can always add this option to your annual pass by calling a friendly Cast Member via the
V.I.PASSHOLDER hotline. You can also upgrade your annual pass using this hotline to avoid your current blockout dates as well.
Jessica, this may not have been the news that you had hoped to hear, but it’s great that you caught this now versus realizing it once you’ve arrived for your staycation. If you have any other questions, revisit us here at planDisney.
I’m all ears!Magic always,
LeAndra
