Although helmets and masks can’t be worn within Disney parks for Star Wars nights. Can they at least be brought inside and held under our arms and worn for photo opportunities? Just as long as the helmet is taken off right afterwards?

Hello there, Joel! Welcome to planDisney. Like a Jedi preparing for a mission, I’m also gearing up for Star Wars Nite and still deciding on the perfect ensemble for the occasion. Your question is as timely as a transmission from the Rebel Alliance!

I know how important those final details are when putting together the perfect Star Wars look, and I completely understand wanting to bring along all the finishing touches. As you may know, the Disneyland Resort Dress Code applies to all Special Events. Guests aged 14 and older may not wear masks, though headgear is allowed as long as it doesn’t cover the face. I’d hate for you to arrive with something special, only to find out it can’t be brought in, so I want to share that the final decision rests with the Security Cast Member on duty. While they always do their best to keep the experience fun and immersive, you may be asked to return a helmet or mask to your vehicle or hotel room. This happened to my fellow panelist, Al, when he tried bringing a mask to Oogie Boogie Bash, and I know it was disappointing. I hope knowing this in advance helps you plan accordingly, so you can focus on enjoying every moment of the event.

Even without a mask, there will be plenty of legendary photo opportunities. While this year’s character and photo spots have not yet been revealed, last year guests could strike a pose with Han Solo frozen in carbonite. Over in Galaxy’s Edge, heroes like C-3PO, Hera Syndulla, and Chopper from Star Wars Rebels made appearances. One of my personal highlights? The chance to take photos of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and R2-D2. And if your journey takes you to Naboo, you might just find yourself in the regal presence of Queen Amidala. Plus, let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want a snapshot with Mickey and Minnie decked out in their finest Star Wars attire?

One event you absolutely won’t want to miss is perhaps the most awe-inspiring moment of the night: the Gathering of the Resistance in Galaxy’s Edge. Hosted by Rey, this experience unites allies from across the galaxy in front of the Millennium Falcon. Together, you’ll ignite your lightsabers as one; a dazzling beacon of hope cutting through the darkness. Having stood shoulder to shoulder with fellow Force-users at this event, I can assure you: watching a sea of lightsabers glowing in unison is a moment worthy of a John Williams soundtrack.

I hope this helps as you prepare for your epic night celebrating all things Star Wars. If you have any additional questions, or just want to chat about the best ways to channel your inner Jedi, please visit us again at planDisney!

May the Force be with you!
