    Hi there! Are we able to use standard Disney gift cards purchased at our local grocery store to pay for any of the dining we do while at Disney World? And what all else can those gift cards be used to pay for while we are there? Thanks! Amanda

    Hi Amanda!  Thanks for bringing your great question to planDisney!

    I am a big fan of using Disney Gift Cards for my Walt Disney World vacations! I purchase Disney Gift Cards from retailers that offer a discount on them throughout the year.  I initially started this by ordering a Disney Gift Card with a cute design in the amount of $25 on disneygiftcards.com. From there, I consolidate my Disney Gift Cards online as I purchase them to make it easier to manage.  It's super easy to do and the maximum value for each Disney Gift Card is $1,000.

    I personally use my Disney Gift Cards to pay the balance of my Walt Disney World vacation prior to arrival. I then bring my Disney Gift Card with me to pay for meals and souvenirs.  The Disney Gift Card is accepted almost everywhere on Disney property, including most of the non-Disney shops at Disney Springs.  

    If you prefer, you can use your MagicBand or MagicBand+ for dining and merchandise purchases. You then have the option to apply your Disney Gift Card towards those purchases by bringing the card to the front desk of your resort hotel any time before your check-out day.  A cast member will be more than happy to apply the Disney Gift Card to your room portfolio.  It sure beats coming home to a hefty vacation bill!

    Amanda, it looks like your next Walt Disney World vacation will be in October.  How exciting! If you decide to purchase tickets for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, you can use your Disney Gift Card for that as well!
