Hello, it has been 10 years since we were at Walt Disney World, and we have a trip planned later part of May. I know it is hard to predict the weather but out of your experience how rainy will it be in the later part of May or the first part of June?

Hiya, Cindy! Welcome to planDisney. It’s my pleasure to assist you as you plan an enchanting return to the most magical place on earth!

As a local who practically has Cinderella Castle in my backyard, I can tell you that late May into early June is pretty much Florida Summer. This is the season when Florida starts cranking up the heat and sprinkling in those famous afternoon showers. Sort of like Tinker Bell tossing a little extra pixie dust, haha! But as they say, April showers bring May flowers. Those downpours keep EPCOT's Flower & Garden Topiaries looking stunning!

While predicting the weather in Florida is trickier than catching a mischievous Stitch, I can tell you that May tends to be warm and toasty, with highs in the upper 80s and a growing chance of pop-up rainstorms, especially as we move into June. By then, our rainy season starts tapping in, which means you’ll likely experience quick but heavy afternoon showers. But here’s the magic; it almost never lasts long!

And to me, a rainy day at Disney is still better than a sunny day anywhere else! There’s something extra magical about strolling down Main Street, with the scent of fresh rain mixing with buttery popcorn, or cozying up inside “it’s a small world” while the raindrops dance outside. My best advice? Pack a poncho and some comfy shoes that can handle a splash, and you’ll be good to go!

Some of my favorite rainy-day spots include hopping on classic attractions with covered queues, enjoying an extended meal at a table-service restaurant, or diving into indoor entertainment like Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom (which will keep you covered and entertained for approx 21 minutes) or the Festival of the Lion King if you have plans to visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

So, get ready for some sunshine, a sprinkle of rain, and a whole lot of magic! And remember, after every storm at Disney, there’s a breathtaking castle view, a beautiful Florida sunset, and maybe even a rainbow over the parks.

Wishing you an incredible trip filled with laughter, adventure, and just the right amount of pixie-dusted puddle jumping! See ya real soon!
