I HAVE A 4 year old but for some atracctions we need to use the RIDER SWITCH, but we will be getting multipass, we want to ride space mountain that has rider switch, DO WE NEED TO RESERVE THE ATRACTION AS WELL FOR ALL 3 OF US IF WE ARE USING RIDER SWITCH?

    Hi Silvia,

Welcome back to planDisney! I’m glad you’re back with this great question about your Walt Disney World visit. Visiting The Most Magical Place on Earth with even the littlest Mouseketeers can still be thrilling thanks to Disney’s Rider Switch service. It’s a great option for visitors with little ones who don’t meet the height requirements for some attractions. Let’s learn more about how it works.

Identify who will ride in your first rider group (Party A) and who will ride in your second group (Party B). Note that if Party B only has one rider in it, they can take someone along from Party A (if there's more than one eligible rider in it) so they don’t have to ride alone. While Party B waits for their turn, they can hang out with the non-rider and enjoy a snack or check out cool experiences close to the attraction. My favorite snack in Tomorrowland might be the Cream Cheese Pretzel at The Lunching Pad, just in case you need a good suggestion. There's also a Joffrey's stand very close to Space Mountain where they serve a great cold brew and my youngest son's favorite strawberry frosted donut with sprinkles. Once Party A returns, Party B heads to the queue entrance. They will utilize the Lightning Lane to access the attraction (be sure to finish that donut).

While you don’t necessarily have to use Lightning Lane Multi Pass to use the Rider Switch service, you certainly can. If you choose to, Party A will skip the standby line and spend less time waiting to ride the attraction at the onset. If you choose to use Lightning Lane together with Rider Switch, all riders will need to have a Lightning Lane reservation.

I hope this information is helpful, Silvia. If you have any additional questions regarding your visit, come on back and visit us here at planDisney again. Until then, TTFN… ta-ta for now!
