Hi Mary, and thanks for bringing your question to planDisney. I work remotely from Disney World a lot, so I’d be happy to talk about the
wireless internet at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
I wasn’t able to confirm exactly when the WiFi was last upgraded, but I have used it extensively at several different resort hotels over the last year. In my experience, the internet speed has been pretty solid, including for video calls.
The Wi-Fi strength can vary by location and time of day, so you might want to run an internet speed test before any important calls. That way, you can move to a different location, if needed. I also find the Wi-Fi to be more reliable at the resort hotels versus the theme parks, particularly for video calls.
If you’re looking for a change of scenery from your room, or need to work after check-out, some of my favorite quiet spots at
Beach Club Resort include the Solarium in the main building and the sitting room inside the
Beach Club Villas building. There's also a
business center in the
Yacht Club Resort's convention area which has computer workstations. At the other EPCOT-area resorts, I love to work from the
Belle Vue Lounge at
BoardWalk Inn (which is usually available as open seating before it turns into a bar at night) and the Voyager’s Lounge next to
Riviera Resort's
Le Petit Cafe (which has great coffee and treats!).
And since you’re so close to EPCOT, there are also tables with outlets nearby in
Connections Eatery (though it can be busy at peak meal times) and outside in the World Celebration Gardens area. September will be a great time to work in or near EPCOT with the
International Food & Wine Festival going on!
If you’re bringing a laptop into one of the theme parks, I recommend holding it out in front of you as you go through the security scanner. That can sometimes save you from a bag search!
I hope you have a magical stay at Beach Club Resort! If you have any other questions, you’re always welcome at planDisney.
