Hi McKenna,
Welcome to planDisney! I'm so happy you stopped by with your question about finding a scrumptious holiday meal during your Walt Disney World vacation.
In my experience, many of the table service restaurants at Walt Disney World offer a menu on Thanksgiving Day that includes a nod to the traditional turkey and dressing meal. Those menus are not typically publicized in advance. But I know that
Whispering Canyon has offered a Thanksgiving version of its trademark skillet dinner in the past, so I would expect it to be the same this year.
A bonus of eating at Whispering Canyon: The lobby at
Wilderness Lodge, with its giant fireplace and soaring Christmas tree, is so beautiful during that time of year. It certainly gives you a cozy feeling, even if you are not in your own home for the holiday.
My other outside-the-parks suggestions for Thanksgiving include
Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge (love that lobby during the holidays, too!);
Steakhouse 71 in the Contemporary and
Olivia's Cafe at Old Key West.
We've had Thanksgiving dinner at Boma, where they added turkey and dressing to the buffet. It's the best of both worlds. You get traditional American holiday fare and Boma's signature African-influenced fare at the same time.
We've eaten Christmas dinner at both Steakhouse 71 and Olivia's and would recommend those for a holiday meal.
Or consider
Sebastian's Bistro at the Caribbean Beach Resort. We haven't been there on a holiday, but we love the meals there, served family style, just like around your home table. Again, there's been no announcement for this year, but I know Sebastian's did a Thanksgiving menu last year.
I hope that gives you some ideas, McKenna. Whichever restaurant you choose, I'd suggest making an
advance dining reservation as soon as they become available for that week. Please let us know if you have other questions about planning your Thanksgiving vacation with your family.
Enjoy,
Wilma
