Greetings, Barbara! Welcome to planDisney! It looks like you will be visiting
The Most Magical Place on Earth in just a matter of weeks! You must be so excited!
This is a valid question, and honestly, a common one. I have a family member for whom this is a concern, and we have found Walt Disney World to be a very size-inclusive place in general. There are no weight restrictions for any of the theme park attractions. That being said, restraints must fully and safely close for a guest to experience the attraction, so there are a few experiences that can be limiting due to size. In
Magic Kingdom Park:
- Tron Lightcycle Run has a motorcycle-style ride vehicle that you sit on, leaning forward with restraints on your back and calves. There is a test seat outside the entrance. Those who don't fit in the standard vehicle can ride in the accessible seat in the last car, which is what my family member chooses to do.
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train has molded, relatively small seats. Each seat has its own lap bar, making it safe to ride with someone of a different size. People in larger bodies often find this attraction uncomfortable, even if they do fit.
There are additional attractions with lap bars that may be more comfortable for some larger people to ride solo, like
The Barnstormer,
Dumbo the Flying Elephant,
The Magic Carpets of Aladdin,
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and
Tiana's Bayou Adventure, but it isn't necessary.
I think you will find that Cast Members are friendly and helpful. They want everyone in your party to enjoy the attraction! You can also look up videos of people boarding the attractions, if it would help you feel more at ease.
While you're in Magic Kingdom, you'll have the opportunity to experience the newly refurbished
Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin! I can't wait to ride this! This is a slow-moving family ride that's part video game, and it just got an
upgrade! The blasters are now handheld, making it easier to hit those targets! Your mission - should you choose to accept it - is to defeat the Evil Emperor Zurg and save the universe!
You are going to make the most magical memories, Barbara! Walt Disney World really is for everyone! If you have any more questions, please
let me know, or come back and see us here at
planDisney. We love helping guests with their next Disney vacation!
Always Dreaming -
Elizabeth
