Welcome to planDisney, Diane! There's a great big beautiful tomorrow shining at the end of every day, and yours is sure to be even more magical as you arrive at the Walt Disney World Resort! Let's dive right into your question so you can finalize your plans and your packing list (don't forget those ponchos!)
Diane, while rain in the forecast isn't the most magical, I'd encourage you not to let it dampen your spirits because magic is waterproof and you'll find that most attractions and experiences won't be interrupted by light rain storms. For the specific attractions you mentioned, I've personally experienced both
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and
Tiana's Bayou Adventure in light rain; they will usually remain operating unless there is lightning or thunder in the area that would make it unsafe to do so. Outside of these two attractions, many of the attractions in each of the four theme parks are inside, so the threat of rain does not generally affect their operations. Even better, many of the lines in Disney are covered queues, which keep guests (mostly) dry and comfortable even in inclement weather.
If you experience rain during your visit, remember that rain often passes quickly in Florida, so if you brave the storms, there's likely sunshine on the other side! I'd also love to offer a few of my top places to wait out the rain in each park to help you out:
- Mickey's PhilharMagic in Magic Kingdom Park is one of my favorite attractions. This cute 3D experience is about 15 minutes long, so it's a great place to duck inside while the rain passes!
- SeaBase Aquarium in EPCOT has so much to see and do! My kids have spent hours visiting with all of the sea creatures here (be sure to say hello to the manatees; they're my favorite!) and Turtle Talk with Crush is always a hilarious time!
- Festival of the Lion King at Animal Kingdom Theme Park is the most joyous festival to celebrate the animated film and the circle of life! You'll be in a covered theatre for this show as well!
- Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage at Disney's Hollywood Studios (or really any of the shows at this park!) offers entertainment, even in the rain!
Diane, one final tip - if you have purchased a Lightning Lane Pass and a ride is unavailable during your return time for any reason, you will see a replacement pass in your My Disney Experience account. This is usually called a Multiple Experiences Pass and can be used at any time on most attractions in the park. You will usually receive a notification through your
My Disney Experience mobile app if this happens as well as an email. On the pass, any excluded attractions will also be listed. You'll have the choice to redeem it for another attraction or you can hang onto it for a while to see if your previously booked attraction reopens and then redeem it there if possible!
I hope this helps, Diane! No matter the weather, we can always bring our own sunshine, so remember to enjoy the magic of your visit, dance in the rain, and bring some extra socks! You're going to have a magical time!
See you tomorrow,
Alison
