Wanting to stay at Polynesian resort, what’s the best month to go for a family of 4 and one of them is a 5 year old?

Hey Howdy Hey Kiesha and welcome to planDisney!

I love where the planning is going thus far. Not only are you planning to visit the Most Magical Place on Earth, but booking a stay at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is going to be next-level fun! The Polynesian Resort is my favorite and one my family loves to visit even when we are not staying there. Before I get too far into how amazing the resort is, it looks like we have to talk about which month to go. Not to worry Kiesha, you've got a friend in me that has planned several trips with little ones and I can give you a personal experience with a few recommendations.

One of the big factors when selecting the "right" month to visit Walt Disney World would have to consider your personal situation. I love visiting Walt Disney World in either May or October. Either of these months will be welcomed with warm weather but not Florida summer hott. There is a chance of rain however in farmer's almanac calendars of the past, these months would see the least amount of rain. Crowd levels during this time are lower because school is either almost done for the year or just beginning. These months have just the right amount of Disney with a perfect compliment of Flordia weather that won't burn you up or flood you out!

Of course, the biggest factor would be the age of your party. Younger-aged kids might be OK to take out of school for the Magical experience, especially grade school. Things may get harder the older they get due to testing and projects they should not miss. But again, it is all up to you and your decision on how to navigate this experience.

You may find a crowd calendar super helpful when deciding on the specific month and days to visit. If you do an internet search for "Disney World Crowd Calendar" this should give you several to look at. With these calendars, you will be given expected crowd levels and overall park schedules. They even take into account experiences such as RunDisney events that may show a boost in park attendance that you may not have any idea is happening. All in all, they are key when planning a trip for the first time.

When my girls were younger, we loved visiting around May and September. It was always warm enough to enjoy the pools at midday or on days off from the parks but not hot enough to push us out of the parks. Make sure you have some time to stroll over to Pineapple Lanai and grab a Dolewhilp while you are at the resort. Or even grab a snack and head to the beach around fireworks time in Magic Kingdom for a show experience you will love! 'Ohana for breakfast is my personal favorite place to enjoy a meal shared with Stich and Lilo and there is no better way to get your day started with this pair!

I hope this information helps decide your perfect time to visit the Vacation Kingdom of the World. If you have any further questions please let us know, we are always happy to help!

    Happy planning,

    Nick
