Hey Howdy Hey Allison and welcome to planDisney!
Let the Magic begin! This is what so many of us say as soon as the plane touches down or we enter official Flordia state lines. I completely understand your excitement about hitting the parks and getting your chance to experience
TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom. Let's talk a bit about strategy to see if we can come up with a plan to get you this experience.
As you have alluded to Allison, at this time, TRON can only be experienced with a
Virtual Queue or the purchase of an
Individual Lightning Lane. These two options work completely differently so let's review the specifics.
Virtual Queues are ways to get in line for attractions virtually. Disney uses these queues for several attractions throughout the parks, TRON being one of them. You can get in the queue at 7:00 AM from anywhere to try to get a boarding group. If you are unable to make it into a boarding group at 7 AM, you can try again at 1:00 PM. This afternoon, however, needs to be attempted while in Magic Kingdom. I would still try your luck at 7 AM. If you get a boarding group, you will also be given an estimate on when you may be called for this attraction. You may get one of the later groups and luck out being called when you enter the park! If not, this is when your option of Individual Lightning Lanes will come in handy.
With Individual Lightning Lanes, this is purchasing a specific time to experience this attraction with minimal wait time. Currently, after you purchase your Lightning Lane, you cannot modify the time. I would make sure to book your attraction experience when you know you are going to be in the parks so you can guarantee your spot. Besides, TRON is amazing anytime, but riding at night in the front row is next-level fun!
I hope this helps give you some options on scoring a trip to the Grid. If you have any other questions let us know, we are always happy to help!
To Infinity and Beyond,
Nick
