Hey there, hi there, Meredith! Welcome to planDisney! I’m delighted that you stopped by with your question.
It looks like you’ll be joining us in the parks, well… TODAY! I was so excited that I had to do a double-take! You might even be enjoying an exciting ride down the bayou on
Pirates of the Caribbean as I write this!
I have some great news for you, Meredith!
Renting an electric conveyance vehicle (ECV), or motorized mobility device, is easier than saying "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"! The Disneyland Resort offers rentals at the ECV and wheelchair area in the Esplanade, just east of the main entrance gates to Disneyland Park. You’ll just pay a small deposit, and then you’ll be off on your magical journey with your ECV! Think of it as your very own magic carpet, ready to whisk you away to all the enchanting lands of Disneyland! I should let you know that ECVs cannot be reserved in advance, as they are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to get there early to secure your royal chariot.
If you’ll be staying at a
Disneyland Resort Hotel during your visit, you may even be able to rent an ECV for the length of your stay. These can be reserved in advance through Disneyland’s mobility device partner. You can find all the details on the
ECV and wheelchair usage page—look for the section specifically for Disneyland Resort Hotel guests.
I have firsthand experience in renting a mobility device for a family member from the location in the Esplanade. I’m happy to share that the Cast Members made the whole process smoother than a ride on the Monorail! It was so easy to find the rental area, and the Cast Members were incredibly helpful. My family member was so grateful to have the ECV, as it allowed them to keep up with our adventurous crew! I usually average between 20,000-25,000 steps per day depending on how much park hopping I’m doing (whew!), so there is definitely a lot of ground to cover at the Happiest Place on Earth!
Meredith, to help make your visit even more magical than a flight with Peter Pan, I’d like to share a
list of attractions and experiences designed to accommodate your ECV throughout your adventure. You’ll be able to enjoy enchanting trips through mystical lands and beloved stories, all while never leaving the comfort of your ECV.
Many of the attractions will also allow you to enter through the main queue and remain in your motorized mobility vehicle until you approach the attraction loading area. A friendly Cast Member will ask if you’ll be able to walk a short distance or stand for a short period of time in order to enter the ride vehicle. They are there to help, so don’t hesitate to ask questions or share any concerns you may have as you prepare to enjoy the attraction.
I hope this helps you chart a course for adventure at the dream-filled Disneyland Resort, Meredith! May your visit be overflowing with pixie dust and enchanting memories. And if any more questions pop up along the way, don't hesitate to ask!
Wishing you a magical adventure!
Cody
