Hey there, Laura! Welcome to planDisney! It looks like your trip to the Happiest Place on Earth has already begun, so let's zoom into action faster than Lightning McQueen!
Storytellers Cafe is my (and my pal,
Kriss'!) favorite restaurant in all of Disneyland Resort! You made a great choice. Adding the
World of Color Dining Package is even better—like peanut butter and jelly, or Mickey and Minnie! This probably isn’t what you’re hoping to hear, Laura, but unfortunately, the voucher included in the package for the designated viewing area is only valid on the same day as the dining experience. This means you can’t use this voucher on the next day. It would be like trying to fit Cinderella’s glass slipper on one of her stepsisters—it just won’t quite work.
But, I have some news that's more exciting than a ride on the Incredicoaster: A
virtual queue is offered for
World of Color – ONE! That means you can enjoy dinner at Storytellers Cafe one day, and take in the spectacular World of Color show the next day in the preferred seating area in Paradise Gardens Park.
Here’s how that works, Laura. The virtual queue opens at 12 PM, so be sure you’re in Disney California Adventure Park before that time on the day you’d like to watch the show. Then, open the
Disneyland mobile app, tap the menu button (three-lined icon at the bottom right), and select Virtual Queues. If you haven’t joined a queue yet, you’ll see a “Join Virtual Queue” button. The queue opens promptly at 12 PM, so be sure you’re in the app and have this screen open and ready. When the clock strikes 12, it's go time! Be faster than Dash from The Incredibles, and refresh the page by swiping down. Walk through the steps until you arrive at the confirmation screen. You’ll receive a notification in the app approximately 45 minutes before showtime letting you know which assigned viewing entrance you should use—either Yellow or Blue. Follow the directions to the viewing area once you’re in the park, and a Cast Member will show you to your location. And voila! Just like magic, you should have a pretty stellar view of the show.
If you don’t refresh quite fast enough and don’t receive a spot in the virtual queue, don't worry! You may still be able to secure a walk-up spot. Just visit the Paradise Bay viewing area 30-45 minutes before the next showtime and speak with a Cast Member, and they might just have a "practically perfect" solution for you to see the show.
Now, Jessica, here’s a pro tip: If you get that spectacular waterfront view along the front row, you may want to bring a poncho or waterproof jacket. You shouldn’t get soaked, but you can expect to get a bit wet from the mist. I hear those colorful fountains can spray water up to 200 feet in the air, so a breeze might carry some of that mist into the crowd. Think of it as a refreshing sprinkle of pixie dust, or maybe even a splash from the playful sea spray, courtesy of Ariel and her under-the-sea friends!
May your journey to the Disneyland Resort be as colorful and bright as the World of Color spectacular itself! Have a fantastic time and let the magic illuminate your vacation!
