Hello Diane!
Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney. I'm thrilled to hear about your family's upcoming visit to
Walt Disney World Resort. It's a perfect destination for magical family memories for guests of all ages. Your family is sure to be captivated by the attractions and entertainment options that await.
Disability Access Service (DAS) is available for guests who have difficulty waiting in traditional queues because of a disability. You'll need to visit with a Cast Member at
Guest Relations to inquire about this service for your father-in-law, but if he is deemed eligible you'll receive a return time for attractions and experiences so your party doesn't have to go through the traditional queue. This service will allow you to wait comfortably in another area and return to the experience in a time comparable to the current standby wait.
For guests in the US, an online Pre-Registration process is available. I don't believe you'll be able to access this from the UK but you may be able to
complete the process once you've arrived stateside, as my pal Nimmy explains. If not, a friendly Cast Member will be happy to review your father-in-law's medical situation to see if he qualifies in person at the parks. I can't guarantee he will be approved but it's certainly worth discussing when you arrive. Please note that guests who need a wheelchair or scooter for mobility concerns will typically not qualify for DAS as most queues are fully accessible. If you feel your father-in-law would
benefit from a wheelchair or scooter, rentals are available at each of the theme parks.
I hope you'll be able to find a comfortable way for your entire family to enjoy the parks together this April. Be sure to take time to experience
EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival which coincides with your travel dates. I'm so excited to see the new topiaries and read up on the latest food and beverage offerings when menu details are revealed.
Diane, please come back and see us again with more planning questions. We're always glad to help.
Magic and memories,
Amy
