Hiya, Robert! I'm happy to welcome you to planDisney!
How exciting that your countdown is well underway, and in just a few short months, you'll be headed to The Most Magical Place on Earth! Your vacation will be here so soon, and before you know it, you'll be on Main Street, U.S.A. immersed in the magic of Disney! What an extraordinary adventure you have to look forward to!
Robert, you've absolutely come to the right place with your question! As someone who has been navigating Walt Disney World Resort as a wheelchair user since childhood, I genuinely understand the ins and outs of experiencing the magic with accessibility in mind. I'm so excited to share my firsthand knowledge to help make your trip as seamless and enjoyable as possible!
Walt Disney World goes above and beyond to ensure that
guests of all abilities can enjoy a magical and stress-free experience, which is one of the many reasons why my family loves visiting time and time again.
Disney's transportation system, which includes buses, the monorail, Disney Skyliner, and water taxis, are all thoughtfully designed to accommodate mobility devices, such as wheelchairs and scooters. You have the flexibility to choose whether to transfer to a seat or remain seated in your mobility device — whatever makes you feel most comfortable and at ease.
Before your visit, be sure to download the
My Disney Experience app to familiarize yourself with the accessibility services it offers. To access this feature, start by tapping the three horizontal bars at the bottom of the Home Screen. Scroll down and select "Accessibility and Health Services," then continue scrolling until you find the "Guest Services at Walt Disney World Resort" section. From there, choose "Services for Guests with Mobility Disabilities." This screen will serve as your go-to resource for all accessibility information during your visit.
I want to share one last tip with you before I go: check out the
Theme Park Guide Maps for Guests with Disabilities. These maps are perfect for getting familiar with the layout of the parks and identifying key accessibility features. They even highlight designated mobility device viewing areas for fireworks and parades.
Robert, I hope this information has been helpful to you. If any other questions pop up during your planning, you've got a friend in me at planDisney!
Pixie-dusted wishes,
Kami
