Hi! We are visiting the Disneyland Resort in July. My son is autistic and eats a very limited number of foods. He is too old for the kids' menu but he mainly eats chicken fingers and fries. Will he be able to order an adult portion of a kid's meal?

Hi Jennifer! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney.

The Disneyland Resort is dedicated to being a welcoming and inclusive destination for all Guests, including those with disabilities. I hope you've had a chance to check out the Accessibility page, which is full of useful resources and guides aimed at making your visit as carefree as possible. For example, when visiting with my uncle, I've found the Sensory Experience Details guide to be especially helpful, since he's triggered by loud noises. There are other great tools and accommodations that might apply to your family's needs on the page dedicated to Neurodivergent Guests.

I have one child who is on the picky side when it comes to eating and has some texture issues, so I understand wanting to ensure there's a safe choice while you're enjoying the parks. The good news is that most Quick Service locations should allow you to select a kids' meal from their menu regardless of age. Kids' meals can't be increased in serving size, but you can always purchase more than one if need be. Use the Disneyland mobile app to find a dining location that has those comforting chicken tenders and fries. Select "Dining" on the map to search for dining locations. Tap "View Menu" for a detailed list of offerings.

You'll even find some adult-sized portions available of your son's go-to meal. A quick check brought up some options you might want to try. The Golden Horseshoe and Stage Door Cafe in Frontierland at Disneyland Park both currently feature Chicken Tenders and Fries on their adult menu, as well as Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree in nearby Bayou Country. If you're in Disney California Adventure Park, check out the "Chicken Fenders" at Flo's V8 Cafe in Cars Land or head over to Smokejumpers Grill in Grizzly Peak for Chicken Tenders and Fries. Menus do change, so check back to be sure.

Unfortunately, I can't guarantee that you'll be able to order off a kids' menu at Table Service locations. You can explain and ask if they can accommodate, but it's up to the discretion of the Cast Member, and they won't be able to increase the portion size for you. You actually won't find Chicken Tenders and Fries on all Table Service kids' menus at this time. Cafe Orleans in New Orleans Square in Disneyland Park has Chicken Tenders and Fries as an option, as well as nearby Carnation Cafe and Plaza Inn on Main Street, U.S.A., and River Belle Terrace in Frontierland. While in Disney California Adventure Park, Carthay Circle Restaurant on Buena Vista Street currently offers Turkey Kid Tenders with Mashed Potatoes and Broccoli.

However, if you check out the menus on the app, you might find something else that fits the bill. My son is a steak and potatoes kid, but he'll also sometimes eat macaroni, pizza, or sliders, all of which we can find at many dining locations in the parks. Searching menus ahead of time and deciding together what sounds good helps eliminate any upset at the table, so the app really saves us!

    I hope this helps!
