Hi, Katy! Welcome to planDisney. Thank you for bringing this question to us, and I am happy to help you navigate your upcoming visit!
Your visit is just around the corner, and I bet you are getting excited! Your family is in for adventure and wonder with your June trip.
Disneyland Resort is committed to helping Guests of all abilities feel welcome and supported, and there are accommodations available that can help your sons have a more comfortable visit.
For Guests with mobility needs, many attractions offer options such as:
• Dedicated load and unload areas for Guests with disabilities
• Wheelchair Access Vehicles (WAV) that allow Guests to remain in a wheelchair to experience the attraction without transferring
• Transfer Access Vehicles (TAV) for Guests who may need additional assistance entering and exiting the ride vehicle (for example, features like a folding bolster seat or a door with a swinging threshold)
• Transfer devices that can help Guests move from a wheelchair to the ride vehicle seat
Most attraction queues can accommodate wheelchairs throughout the queue. Some queues can be a bit tighter, but those attractions typically have a procedure in place to help you access the experience, such as entering through an alternate entrance or being directed through the exit. Katy, I want you to head into your trip feeling confident and prepared, so I recommend checking out the
Services for Guests with Mobility Needs page. It is a great resource for seeing which attractions require a transfer, along with ambulatory requirements. That page also includes an email option so you can reach out to Disney Guest Services directly with any specific questions about your sons’ needs.
Katy, your family is going to make memories you will cherish forever! You will be visiting at the tail end of the
Disneyland 70th Anniversary Celebration, so you will get to enjoy festive decor, special treats, and the amazing
Paint the Night Parade at Disneyland Park after dark. I visited recently and I am still singing some of the songs that accompany the magic!
Quick tip, that parade is very popular! Guests often start lining the route more than an hour before showtime. If you would like a more structured plan, I recommend considering a
Paint the Night Plaza Inn Dining Package. You get a delicious meal plus a return pass for reserved parade viewing, and they also offer wheelchair accessible viewing. I checked the availability calendar, and as of right now there is still availability depending on your party size, but space is limited and reservations can go quickly. If you are interested, I would book as soon as you can!
I hope your visit is practically perfect in every way, and that your family has the most magical time at the Happiest Place on Earth! Please come see us again if you have any additional questions!
