We are visiting Disneyland for the first time around 12/10. What can we expect as far as holiday entertainment? What are the typical Disneyland park hours during December?

Greetings, Christina, and welcome back to planDisney!

Thanks for submitting another question to us and I'm always excited to welcome a Walt Disney World veteran to the Disneyland Resort! There's definitely something special about Disneyland Park, knowing that Walt Disney himself had an apartment there and had a direct influence on many of the attractions that are still there today.

The Holidays are an extra special time to visit because it's the most wondrous and beautiful time of the year at the Disneyland Resort! You'll find no shortage of Holiday Entertainment and I'd be happy to go over some of my highlights from each Park:

    • Disneyland Park: I love seeing this Park all decked out for the Holidays! There's Christmas magic around every corner in this winter wonderland! During the daytime, you'll see A Christmas Fantasy Parade make its way through the Park. It's one of my personal favorite parades and I love the theme song which you'll be humming long after Santa's sleigh goes by. After the sun goes down, "Believe...In Holiday Magic" lights up the skies and you'll even experience "snowfall" in Southern California (weather permitting) if you watch on Main Street, U.S.A., along the Rivers of America, or by "it's a small world" Holiday.
    • Disney California Adventure: Oh boy, are you in for a (tasty) treat at this Park! The Festival of Holidays celebrates the season with live entertainment and the Festive Foods Marketplace, a collection of food kiosks that offer a diverse menu of seasonal foods from around the world! Grab yourself a Sip and Savor Pass if you want a sampling of everything and don't forget that you can order dishes from any kiosk from one booth! Just bring your receipt with you to pick up your dishes at the other booths. World of Color - Season of Light is this Park's nighttime spectacular and the virtual queue opens at noon (or consider a World of Color Dining Package or the Dessert Party).

You're going to love the atmosphere in both Parks. Everything is so incredibly festive. You'll see live performances, carolers, and characters in seasonal outfits everywhere you look. Even the Hotels are beautifully decorated and I love walking through their lobbies and admiring the Holiday decor and merchandise!

Park Hours are posted in the Daily Schedule which is released six weeks in advance, so be sure to check when your visit nears. Generally, Disneyland will be open from 8 a.m. to midnight and Disney California Adventure is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. at that time of year.

Christina, that was a lot of information and I hope you found it helpful! Please write again if you need more specifics because we'd be happy to help you plan your magical vacation!

Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
