If I upgrade my magic key at a booth can I use a Disney Giftcard to pay the difference in full?

    Hello, Bridget!

Thank you for returning to planDisney to ask us another question about the Disneyland Resort. I hope you’ve been enjoying many perfectly pixie-dusted theme park visits with the help of your Magic Key!

As you may have heard, eligible Magic Keys may be upgraded to another available Magic Key pass. As of this moment, all but one of the Magic Key pass types are available for purchase or upgrade! You can transition from your current Magic Key to an Inspire Key, Believe Key, or Enchant Key, as long as the new pass is of higher value.

The upgrade amount (the total difference in price between the pass you have now and your desired pass type) must be paid in full, and yes, you can pay this amount with a Disney Gift Card in person at a Main Entrance Ticket Booth in the Esplanade between the two theme parks. Please keep in mind that your Magic Key will still expire a year from the first day that the original pass was activated.

I hope this answers your question, Bridget. Be sure to check out the Magic Key pass discounts to see how you can make the most of all the benefits available to pass holders during your year of memory-making at the Disneyland Resort!

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
