Hi Kayla,
Oh, the potty training days! Why does your question make me miss having little kiddos who still need me to think about things like this again? I promise that the time comes when you don't have to carry 5657583 pounds of things into the theme parks anymore, your teenagers are pretty cool, and everything on vacation is just a little easier. And somehow, you will miss the chaos.
I have good news! The
Baby Care Centers located in each of the theme parks are not only a clean, comfortable, and quiet place to escape for a few minutes if you need a little break, but they also offer toddler-sized toilets for your little ones. Now, we all know that sometimes the urge strikes at inconvenient times, and you might not be able to pop right into the Baby Care Center. You may find yourself dashing into the closest restroom with your little student. No worries! I have a few tips:
If yours is anything like one of mine, auto
magically flushing toilets were a no-go. Unfortunately, all of the theme park restrooms are so equipped. What does a momma do in this situation? Pop a pad of Post-it notes into your park bag before heading out for the day and solve the issue before it arises! Stick one over the sensor while your kiddo handles business, and the toilet won't flush until you remove it. Problem: solved.
There are several brands of pretty inexpensive folding toddler toilet seats available online. You could toss one in a plastic baggie and bring it along to avoid any traumatic toilet tumbles along the way. Then, use a Lysol wipe to clean it before replacing it in the baggie, drop it at the bottom of your stroller or park bag, and move on. I know you mentioned a step stool. I can't think of a reason why that wouldn't be permitted in the theme parks, but I think you might just have an easier time giving your little one a small lift onto the big potty. There are folding stools and smaller sinks in most restrooms for toddlers to showcase their independent hand-washing skills. We used to name that sink after my child, who was always very proud of her super clean hands. (By "Used to" I definitely mean that we definitely still call it that. Old habits die hard.)
Finally, consider bringing a couple of extra pull-ups and maybe a spare outfit or two in a couple of bonus baggies. With so much to take in as a toddler at
Walt Disney World Resort, he may have a hard time noticing when something has to go out. It's always good to have a backup plan. Or three.
Finally, check out the
Panel Extras and
Video Library on the planDisney website for a ton of tips to help you navigate a Disney vacation with a little one. My pals are so smart! There is nothing like a great tip from a mom who has been there.
I hope that was helpful, Kayla. Come on back and see us with any other questions as you get closer to your big travel day! I wish you (and your little!) the very best time at Walt Disney World Resort!
Adventure is out there,
