Hi there, Maria! Welcome to planDisney and thanks for stopping by with such a great question!
Maria, you are in for such a special, magical adventure. My wife and I took our daughter to
Walt Disney World for the first time when she was 10 months old, and seeing the magic through her little eyes was priceless and something I will never forget. With naptimes, strollers, diaper bags, and all the other gadgets and gizmos that little ones need, where you stay is important. Let's talk Disney Resort Hotels!
You truly cannot go wrong with either
Disney's Contemporary Resort, the
Polynesian or
Wilderness Lodge. Each one of those options is fabulous and themed to perfection with fantastic pools, dining options and close proximity to Magic Kingdom. When choosing a Resort with little ones, my main concern is always transportation options. Being able to walk to a park or take transportation that doesn't require you to take a sleeping baby out of a stroller to fold it up to get on makes it so much easier to pop in and out of the parks for naps or breaks.
From the Contemporary, it's fast and easy to walk or take the
Monorail over to Magic Kingdom. From the Polynesian, you have the option to take the Monorail or a
boat. From Wilderness Lodge, your options are a boat or a
bus. Sometimes, you can catch a boat that is large enough to push a stroller right on without folding it, but if you get a smaller boat, you will be required to fold up the stroller before coming aboard. You will be required to fold up a stroller to board the busses, as well. So, in my opinion, the ease of getting to and from Magic Kingdom makes the Contemporary or the Polynesian your two best options with a 9-month-old Mouseketeer.
I see that scheduled construction work is underway at all three of your Resort choices. Wilderness Lodge is having some exterior work done, the Polynesian is continuing its expansion, and the Contemporary is refurbishing the interior of the nearby Bay Lake Tower and Convention Center. But Hakuna Matata! It means "no worries." Bay Lake Tower is a completely separate building from the rooms at the Contemporary, so I would think that the impact of the construction there would be minimal when trying to rest and enjoy your Resort. I recently stayed at Bay Lake Tower, and while I could see that refurbishments were taking place, I did not hear a thing!
Besides the walk to and from Magic Kingdom, the coolest thing about the Contemporary is that the Monorail runs right through the Resort! Be sure to make a dining reservation at
Chef Mickey's so that your little one can watch the monorail soar overhead while you hang out with Mickey and his gang. Pure pixie dust!
I hope this helps, Maria, and I hope you all have the most magical and memorable time at the Most Magical Place on Earth! Please feel free to stop by any time with any questions you may have. You've got a friend in planDisney!
See ya real soon,
Mandy
