What an exciting time, Grace! I can understand why you want to firm up travel plans for your upcoming cruise on the
Disney Treasure, so I’m glad you sailed by planDisney with your question.
Although I often wish I could hop on a magic carpet to take me from my house to the ship, Fort Lauderdale is one of my favorite ports to sail out of because it’s so close to the airport (that and there are
so many great restaurants not far from the port too). Keeping that in mind, Disney Cruise Line recommends you
don’t book flights earlier than 11 AM out of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on debarkation day.
To prepare for the final morning of my cruise, I pack my bags the night before and put them outside my stateroom door before 10 PM so I don’t have to walk around the ship with them during breakfast (especially because the elevators can also be quite busy on debarkation day). Speaking of breakfast, you can either have a sit-down meal in the restaurant where you had dinner the previous evening or eat buffet style at Marceline Market.
Once the ship is cleared at port, debarkation typically starts around 8 AM. If you choose not to do
Express Walk-Off, you will wait to hear the name of the Character from the luggage tags provided for you in your stateroom the night before, and then you can line up to leave the ship. (I also wish I had a magic carpet for this too!). Since the airport is only about 15 minutes away, even if you get off the ship closer to 9 AM, that still gives you plenty of time for travel and check-in. You can either arrange ground transportation through Disney or opt for a rideshare.
I hope these options are beginning to make your trip even more real. And if you think of any more questions along the way, please visit us here at

Embrace the magic,
Sami
