Kathleen,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
I have enjoyed my new
MagicBand+ band on my trips to Walt Disney World. From simple experiences like it lighting up as I exit a ride, to helping me earn some credits as I chase down bad guys in the
Batuu Bounty Hunters quest, it perks up my day. More importantly, I love having a single band that is my room key, my park ticket, and how I pay for my souvenirs and meals, all on one wrist.
There are two ways for you to approach getting a band. If you are coming to Walt Disney World with a package that includes staying at a
Disney Resort Collections hotel, you may be eligible to purchase a MagicBand at a discount. If you go to your
My Disney Experience Account, go to the
"My Magic Band and Cards" section. If eligible, you will see a fairly extensive list of options, and any relevant discount should be reflected there.
Even if you are not eligible for a discount, you can still get a band. They will send it to your home address before arrival, and you can assign it to your account. Alternatively, you can also review band options at
shopDisney.com, in case there is a particular design you are hunting for. You could also wait until you arrive to buy one at a park or resort store, but I think planning ahead will mean one less thing for you to do.
A final note. your husband's band from 2022 would likely still be active and might not need to be replaced. Even if it is a previous version of MagicBand from that year, the internal batteries (which cannot be replaced) typically have a 2-year lifespan, so he should be good to go.
