Hi Monica,
Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney! I also have kids in the age range where strollers are extremely useful while visiting Walt Disney World.
According to the
Walt Disney World Property Rules list of prohibited items, bicycles are only permitted in designated Disney Resort areas. I spoke with a Cast Member who stated that although you are not planning on keeping the pedals attached to your push bike, it would still fall under the bicycle restriction.
Instead, I highly recommend
renting a stroller at Walt Disney World. Strollers are available for rental at each of the theme parks and in Disney Springs. You can rent them daily or pre-pay for the length of your stay. What I love about
renting a stroller is that we don’t have to worry about folding up our stroller and carrying it onto Disney transportation. You can pick up your stroller from the rental location in the morning and return it before you leave the park. If you plan on park hopping, you can return your stroller at the first park and then pick up a new one at the next theme park you visit.
Here's a fun video from planDisney about renting strollers in the theme parks! If you’d prefer to rent a different style stroller, you can rent one from ScooterBug, a Disney Featured Provider. They can arrange a stroller drop-off at your Disney Resort and you will keep the stroller with you until your scheduled pick up at the end of your vacation.
I hope this helps, Monica! I don’t know how old your child is, but I think having a more traditional style stroller is the way to go. Your child may appreciate the extra room and support to take a mid-day nap, which will give you the opportunity to
enjoy a DOLE Whip all to yourself! If you have any more questions as you continue planning, please come back and
see me at planDisney!
