I will be travelling as a single parent with 2 kids. Is there any quiet or green spaces for children in any of the parks for children who have sensory/anxiety issues and need some down time without having to travel back to our hotel?

    Hey there, Fiona!

I’m so happy to welcome you to planDisney, and I appreciate you bringing your question our way! Your fall visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth will be here before you know it, and I bet you’re getting super excited. I have a 12-year-old myself, and I have to say, I think this is such a fun age for a Walt Disney World vacation. Of course, every age is a great age for Disney, but there’s something really fun about those tween years. They can handle a few more attractions, stay up a little later, and have a bigger say in what they want to do. I think you’re going to have such a wonderful time making those Disney memories together!

I completely understand wanting to build in some downtime without having to head all the way back to your Resort. Traveling back and forth can take up quite a bit of your day, so it’s nice to have a few easy options for taking a breather right in the theme parks.

While Walt Disney World doesn’t have designated “quiet spaces,” there are spots throughout the parks that can be a little calmer depending on the time of day. One of my family’s favorite ways to take a midday break is to make an Advanced Dining Reservation at the park we’re visiting. It gives us a chance to step away from the crowds, sit down, enjoy a meal, and recharge for a couple of hours before jumping back into the fun.

Another option we really like is stopping at a Quick-Service location during off-peak dining hours. These restaurants can be noticeably quieter when you avoid the typical lunch and dinner rushes, making it a nice opportunity to grab a bite, slow down for a bit, and regroup before continuing with your day.

And remember, Cast Members are always happy to help! If you’re looking for a quieter spot to take a break, don’t hesitate to ask a Cast Member. They may be able to point you toward an area that’s a little more peaceful at that particular time.

Fiona, I hope this has been helpful, and you have the best trip with your kids. Thank you so much for stopping by planDisney!
