What time does the gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian open?

Welcome back to planDisney, Barbara! Your holiday visit to Walt Disney World Resort will be here as fast as the Gingerbread Man can run, so let's talk about one of my family's favorite traditions - visiting the iconic house of treats at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

The Gingerbread House is celebrating its 25th year in the resort's lobby, and I had the pleasure of seeing it a few days ago when it opened. When I smell the gingerbread wafting through the resort, I know Christmas isn't far away. You can see the house and take photos anytime. I recommend taking pictures from the ground level and the walkway above. I have gingerbread selfies dating back ten years!

You can walk up to the window to purchase sweet treats, including a Gingerbread Mickey and a Gingerbread Shingle. I chatted with a holly-jolly Cast Member who said the operating hours can vary depending on treat availability, but you can typically buy yummy items from around 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Be sure to look for the 25 hidden Mickeys throughout the house in honor of its silver anniversary. My favorites are the tiny trees decorated in classic characters' color schemes. The Chip 'n Dale trees are adorable!

Barbara, I hope your upcoming visit is full of holiday magic...and lots of gingerbread! My mom was a pro at making that holiday cookie, so it has a special place in my heart. Please stop by planDisney anytime. Happy holidays!

    Magic awaits,
    Elaine
