Trick or treat, Sandra! Welcome to planDisney at this most terrifying time of year. I hope your travels to the United States went smoothly and you're ready for an adventure at Walt Disney World Resort. Congratulations on snagging tickets to
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! Let's look at some strategies for enjoying this after-hours event with your family.
My first recommendation is to take it slow that day. I like to sleep in, have a leisurely breakfast at my Disney Resort hotel, and then head to the pool. A nap in the afternoon can be beneficial since the party lasts until midnight. My son always boasted that he could stay up that late, but I have photos of my husband carrying him out of the park!
With everyone rested and ready, I suggest arriving at
Magic Kingdom Park around 3:30 PM. Guests with party tickets can
enter as early as 4:00 PM, so the earlier you can scan in, the better. The party will officially begin at 7:00 PM, so I like to take advantage of those extra hours to mark a few attractions off my list. Use the Tip Board in your mobile app to find some rides with low waits, giving you more time to enjoy the party-exclusive offerings.
My family sometimes books a table-service meal during those pre-party hours. We once grabbed a walk-up reservation at
Tony's Town Square Restaurant, where we enjoyed the
Flag Retreat ceremony from the restaurant's porch. The Spaghetti with Impossible Meatballs is delicious; just save some room for Halloween candy!
Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade typically runs twice during the event, and while the second parade could have slightly lower crowds, your little one might be too tired to enjoy that one.
Frontierland is often less congested, so my tip is to head there for the first parade, which should start around 8:15 PM. I like the area near The Hall of Presidents, so pick your spot 30-45 minutes before parade time. We like to grab
festive snacks or popcorn in a Halloween-themed refillable bucket to relax and people-watch until the parade begins.
However, if your family happens to be fans of
A Goofy Movie, you might consider a spot in the Town Square area to catch Powerline Max as he leads the parade. His dance show only runs from the Hub in front of Cinderella Castle to Town Square. I dressed as Max once and caught his eye during the parade! I watched with friends in the Hub last year, but it was very crowded. I'm not sure you will have a good parade view from that area.
Sandra, I hope your family has a villainous visit this week! Be sure to say "Boo!" to Bruno in Fairytale Garden, and stop by
planDisney anytime.
Magic awaits,
Elaine
