Hello! I am thinking of planning a solo trip Disney World. It would technically be a solo trip, and the thing is that every time I go any resort, the smallest room I see has a least two beds. Is there a way I can request a smaller room or is that standard?

Hi Victoria, and welcome to planDisney. While visiting Disney World with friends and family is lots of fun, I absolutely love my solo trips! It’s great to have the freedom do whatever you want, whether that’s sleeping in, eating a Dole Whip for breakfast, or riding Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin three times in a row. Pro tip, it’s so much easier to get the maximum 999,999 score when you’re riding solo!

Most Disney Resort hotel rooms sleep at least four people, but there are some exceptions. The Duo Studios at Polynesian Villas & Bungalows and the Tower Studios at Riviera Resort sleep two adults and feature a Queen-size Murphy bed. When I stayed in a Tower Studio, it was the perfect home base for my solo trip! They’re the smallest hotel rooms at Disney World, but I was impressed how they were well designed to maximize the space.

There’s also another room type that you might like for your vacation. When I’m on a solo trip, I often stay at one of the more affordable Value Resorts. Pop Century Resort and the All Star Resorts have Standard Rooms that sleep four adults, but the second bed folds into the wall, giving you more space. In my experience, that Murphy bed is folded away by default, so it’ll be all set when you arrive!

When I’m at Disney World by myself, I love to eat at the bar in the park and resort hotel lounges. Some of my favorites are Nomad Lounge at Animal Kingdom and Bar Riva at Riviera Resort. They both have great salads if you’re looking for something a little healthier!

And don’t forget to take advantage of any Single Rider lines. Some of the attractions that typically offer this time saver include Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom, Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run and Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios, and Test Track at EPCOT (currently under refurbishment). Disney has also been testing a Single Rider line at Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOT, so check with the Cast Members to see if it’s running while you’re there.

I hope you have the most magical solo trip at Disney World! If you have any other questions, I’d be happy to answer them. I can talk solo trips all day!
