Hiya, Katina! Welcome to planDisney!
One of my most consistent recommendations for Guests visiting
Walt Disney World Resort is to consider purchasing Lightning Lane Passes.
Lightning Lane Passes are designed to minimize the amount of time you spend waiting in line at participating attractions across the parks. This in turn allows you to spend more time enjoying the other offerings around property. Personally, it has consistently given me back so much time during my park days. I want you to save time waiting in line as well, Katina, so let’s get right into it!
If you’re staying at a Disney Resort hotel or other select hotels, you’ll be able to purchase Lightning Lane Passes up to 7 days in advance of your stay. If you are staying elsewhere, you can purchase passes up to 3 days in advance of your park visit.
With Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you’ll be able to select return times for up to three attractions ahead of your visit. For Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT, the attractions are
tiered into groups. The most in-demand attractions are in one group, and the other attractions are in a second group. When your booking window opens, you’ll be able to book one attraction from the first group, and two attractions from the second group. As of this writing, there are no groups for Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park, all attractions are on equal footing. As soon as you redeem your first Lightning Lane on the day of your visit, you’ll be able to book another selection, always holding a maximum of three at a time. It’s best practice to book another selection as soon as you redeem one. Also, once you start redeeming Lightning Lanes in the park the day of your visit, groups no longer matter and you can book any available attraction.
Lightning Lane Single Pass allows you to choose a return time for some of the most in-demand attractions that are not available with Multi Pass. These currently include TRON Lightcycle / Run and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom Park, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Avatar Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT. These are a separate purchase for a one-time ride at a predetermined return time for these attractions. Note that you can purchase both Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass for the same day.
Lightning Lane Premier Pass grants you one-time entry to each available Lightning Lane experience in one park for one day, including attractions that are offered as Lightning Lane Single Pass experiences. The best part of this option is that you can ride the attractions whenever you choose, with no return time required.
This is a lot of information, Katina, and I hope you found it helpful! If you have any other questions as your vacation approaches, please don’t hesitate to come back and see us here at

See you real soon!
