Welcome Home, Tracey!
Thanks for stopping by planDisney! How exciting that you are thinking of joining the most magical neighborhood around - the Disney Vacation Club! As a Member for the last 22 years, I can tell you it was one of the best investments our family has made. As Disney Vacation Club has given us flexible and affordable vacations year after year, it has made family vacations possible that wouldn't be possible otherwise - to Disney and beyond.
Tracey, you have come to the right place to learn about the magic Disney Vacation Club has to offer. My family of five has used our Vacation Points for stays at Walt Disney World and Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, Aulani, Disney's Hilton Head and Vero Beach Resorts, for Disney Cruise Line cruises, and even on exchanges for a ski trip in Colorado, a beach trip in California, and a European adventure in Austria. Not only have we experienced the benefits of DVC Membership, but my parents are also Members, and as retirees, they have been able to use their Vacation Points to Disney properties, as well as on Adventures By Disney trips to Peru and Alaska, on Disney Cruise Line cruises on the Panama Canal and Alaska, and for many multigenerational getaways.
Now, if you are interested in purchasing into Disney Vacation Club, I recommend calling Member Services and connecting with a
DVC Sales Cast Member. Since it looks like you are visiting in March, I would recommend setting up a tour and learning more about any current offers and how the program works.
When you purchase a
real estate ownership interest in Disney Vacation Club, your real estate interest is then represented by Vacation Points. When you purchase your Vacation Points, you will buy into your Home Resort, which you can book beginning 11 months out from your desired check-in date. All other Disney Vacation Club Resorts can be booked beginning seven months from your desired check-in date.
The best value for your points is at a Disney Vacation Club Resort. The DVC team can advise you on the number of Vacation Points you might want to purchase based on any current requirements as well as how you would like to use your Vacation Points. For example, I have 220 Vacation Points each year, and this generally allows us to book a one-week Disney Vacation Club Resort Deluxe Studio or One Bedroom (depending on the time of year and Resort) every year. My parents have three contracts, so they can use their Vacation Points more often.
Purchasing directly from Disney is - in my opinion - the best way to go, as when you purchase at least 150 Vacation Points directly from Disney, you are then eligible for
Member Extras. These include, but are not limited to, hundreds of discounts on select tickets, tours, events, and experiences; Members-only spaces like the lounges at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts; special Members-only experiences like Moonlight Magic, where you get complimentary access to select theme parks on select dates to enjoy the attractions with shorter wait times, character experiences, special entertainment and delectable treats; Members-only cruises and special gifts and invitations exclusively for Members; and the option to purchase the new Member Magic Beyond add-on which adds even more magic to your Membership.
When it comes to creating magical family memories and vacations of your dreams, Disney Vacation Club is a tremendous value and investment. As my dad says, "it's like a guaranteed vacation every year."
I hope this helps you and feel free to soar back here if you have more questions!
Magically Yours,
Keri
