We are staying at The Swan and Dolphin and are planning a pool day (few hours). My In-Laws live locally and want to come see the kids that day. Can we get them a band or pay a pass to allow them to sit (not swim) in the pool area while the kids swim?

Hi, Melissa, and welcome to planDisney! How exciting that you’re staying at the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel/Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel! This resort, along with the nearby Swan Reserve, is part of Disney’s "Other Select Deluxe Hotels," which means you’ll have all the fantastic amenities of a deluxe stay. Plus, you can enjoy the added benefit of Extended Evening Theme Park Hours on select nights, a great way to experience more magic and shorter lines in the parks.

As for having your in-laws join you for a pool day, Guests are welcome to visit the resort for dining, shopping, and other amenities, though access to the pool area is usually limited to registered hotel guests. I’d suggest stopping by the front desk when you arrive to ask if there might be any way for your in-laws to join you by the pool, even if just for a short time. This way, you can confirm with the hotel management and make any adjustments to your plans if needed. Maybe plan on dining at the Cabana Bar and Beach Club on the pool deck and right next to the pool!

If the hotel management advises that your in-laws can’t access the pool area, Hakuna Matata, there are some excellent nearby alternatives! Just steps away is Disney’s BoardWalk, where you can enjoy dining, shopping, and classic boardwalk games, which make for a fun, family-friendly outing. Another option for spending time together could be a stroll through Disney Springs, where you’ll find equally fantastic dining, shopping, and even live entertainment. For a truly memorable visit with your in-laws, I’d recommend grabbing a dining reservation at one of the monorail resorts. My top choice? Head to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and cap off the evening watching Happily Ever After fireworks from the beach along Seven Seas Lagoon. The kids can play in the sand, and you and your in-laws can savor delicious cocktails from Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace while taking in the show from a relaxing Adirondack chair.

I hope this information helps you plan your special day with your family, Melissa. If you need any additional suggestions for alternative activities or help planning your resort day, please feel free to reach out; I’d be happy to point you in the right direction!

    See you real soon!
