Hi Mindy,
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is an epic place to stay for a Disney World vacation. The 3-bedroom suites there are beautiful and offer so much space for your family to spread out and relax after a day at the theme parks. I love this resort for the tranquillity it provides and also for the delicious food options. While you are there check out
Sanaa for dinner or a quicker bite in the lounge. The Indian-style Bread Service here is one of my must-do snacks every time I visit Disney World.
Since you have already booked your room, I recommend
calling the resort reservation number to ensure that the reservation you currently have is for an accessible room. My room at Animal Kingdom did not have a removable shower head on my most recent visit so this is not standard in all of the rooms. When you call, if your current room is not an accessible one, they can help switch your room to one that is accessible for your specific needs. If you only need a bedrail and a shower seat for your room and do not need a specifically accessible room then you should email disability.services@disneyparks.com. They will be able to guide you to the best source to ensure you have everything you need for your trip.
I also recommend checking out the new revamped
guide for guests with disabilities. Disney World has done a fabulous job of outlining all of the available services and ensuring that the needs of all guests are met. One of my favorite services is the
companion restrooms throughout Disney's theme parks. These restrooms help provide privacy and quiet while you assist family members throughout the day.
Happy Planning,
Jenna
