Hi! We are staying at the Grand Floridian this year November 10-15. Do you know when the traffic in the lobby picks up with people coming to see the gingerbread house? Thank you!

Hi there Virginia, and welcome to planDisney!

As Disney Vacation Club owners of The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, my husband and I have spent a lot of time enjoying the festive atmosphere that comes almost as soon as Halloween has ended and the Holiday season descends upon Walt Disney World Resort. There's nothing quite like stepping into that lobby and be immediately hit with the spicy-sweet scent leading you to the Gingerbread House - now celebrating its 25th year!

During each of our visits and stays over the past few years, I've compiled my observations based on guest behavior to determine some of the better times to check out the Gingerbread House:

    • My biggest advice is to head to the main lobby at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa both earlier and later for the best chance of experiencing fewer families queueing up for sweet gingerbread treats and photos with this massive confectionery creation. While operating hours are always subject to change, we've had luck finding only a scattering of folks waiting around the lobby before 9:00 A.M. as many head upstairs directly to board the Resort Monorail. There's often a steady flow into the afternoon that gets busier once guests begin arriving to check in to their rooms, as well as anyone enticed by the tantalizing scents between their lunch and dinner reservations at one of the many dining locations at the resort.
    • Depending on the scheduled theme park opening times in the Hours & Events Calendar in November, I've also observed a spike just before Happily Ever After comprised of folks wanting a snack as they enjoy the fireworks from the Grand Floridian Marina. (During the show itself can sometimes be a pretty great time to visit the Gingerbread House as this is usually within its last hour before closing, but if it remains open and the fireworks have concluded there can also often be a final rush.)
    • As soon as dates are released on the Disney Parks Blog about when you can expect construction to be completed, the first few days and especially first weekend - as well as the ones that follow will often be popular with local influencers and content creators looking to snap their snots. (I've also found it considerably busier on Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party dates!)
While trends and behaviors can change from year to year, I hope this helps you avoid any traffic during your stay this time Virginia! One of the best parts about staying at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa during this time of year is that it'll remain decked out throughout your visit, and even long after the crowds have left for the day. I've personally taken some excellent photos super early in the morning and even late at night - and it's a little extra magical to feel alone in the lobby taking in the beautiful tree and admiring the Gingerbread House all to yourself.

Wishing you all the best on your gingerbread quest!
