Hi Francine!
Thanks for cruising over to planDisney with your question. I'm thrilled to hear about your family's upcoming visit and don't blame you one bit for wanting to join in the fun! I'm a big fan of
Disney's Art of Animation Resort and expect that your daughter and grandchildren will have a fantastic stay! The resort is bright, colorful and adorably themed at every step. Let's see if we can find you accommodations nearby.
Disney's Art of Animation Resort is made up of Standard Rooms and Family Suites. I've had the chance to stay in each and enjoyed both experiences. I looked at your preferred travel dates and see that The Little Mermaid Standard Rooms are currently booked. However, there does seem to be availability in each of the three different Family Suites at this time. These rooms accommodate 6 adults and feature 2 full bathrooms, a kitchenette, and a living area in addition to a separate bedroom. It might be too much space for just one person, but your daughter can consider upgrading her current reservation to get you all in one room. If that won't work for this visit you can certainly keep checking for reservations in the standard rooms.
Disney's Pop Century Resort is located just across Hourglass Lake from Art of Animation and would be a great alternative. These resorts are within walking distance of each other and share a
Disney Skyliner station which will transport you to EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios. I've stayed here twice before and love the retro theming all around the resort grounds.
It appears that your full length of stay is currently unavailable at Pop Century as well, but I urge you to keep checking as guest plans change frequently. You might also consider a split stay if you can find a room for a few nights at two different resorts.
Bell Services will gladly transfer your luggage between Disney Resort Collection hotels so you don't have to interrupt the fun while switching between your reservations.
Francine, I'm sorry I couldn't offer more assistance today but I'll keep my fingers crossed that a little Disney magic works in your favor. In the meantime, please come back and see us again with more planning questions. We'll always do our best to help!
Magic and memories,
Amy
