Hello Denise!
I'm so excited to help (and just a little bit jealous) as you countdown the last few days until your visit. I just know that you'll have a magical time at Walt Disney World this weekend.
Capacity-related closures are a common concern for many guests, but in my experience, these closures are rare and usually reserved for the busiest holidays. I experienced a
temporary closure of Magic Kingdom Park on Christmas Day a few years back, and I know New Year's Eve is another popular date where crowds are stacked, but I'm hopeful you won't run into any issues.
It sounds like you have an exciting day planned with a visit to Magic Kingdom Park and an afternoon break to save the galaxy on
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT. I often pair these two parks on park hopping days as they are just a hop, skip and a monorail ride away. While dining reservations, Virtual Queue boarding groups, and
Lightning Lane Passes will NOT guarantee entry in the event of a capacity closure, Cast Members at the park entrance should be able to assist. This might mean advising you to return at a later time once some of the crowds have thinned, or issuing a refund of the passes purchased. This is always handled on a case-by-case basis, but I'm crossing my fingers you won't have any problems returning to Magic Kingdom Park for the remainder of the day.
Be sure to have the
My Disney Experience Mobile App downloaded with push notifications enabled. This way you'll be notified in the rare instance that Magic Kingdom Park has a temporary closure. In that case, you can hang at EPCOT a bit longer or attempt to modify your Lightning Lane return windows to another park or experience. The great thing about
Park Hopper Option tickets is that you can book return windows in any park, subject to availability, once you've redeemed one of your initial 3 attraction selections.
I hope this puts you at ease, Denise. If we can offer any additional assistance before you head to Florida please come back and let us know. Say hi to Mickey for me and be sure to enjoy a few
seasonal treats once you arrive!
Magic and memories,
Amy
