How do I start this? And can I plan a small skit with cast members to pop the question? We have big ties to Star Wars and I want to pop the question in front of the Millennium Falcon on Star Wars day 2027. Figured id start asking questions and planning now

Hey there, AJ, and welcome to planDisney! Congratulations on your upcoming engagement! I love that you're planning a special proposal at The Most Magical Place on Earth. I also had a Disney themed proposal, but it took place here in NC. There is a giant acorn statue near my town, and I proposed to my wife (a Peter Pan super fan) in front of it because it was the biggest "kiss" I could find. I would be delighted to help make your Star Wars proposal special. Let the planning commence!

First, you can definitely involve Cast Members, PhotoPass photographers, and characters on your special day, but maybe not to the level of "skit." I would discreetly inform the photographer about your plan, and they will be able to inform the characters and surrounding Cast Members. While characters typically can't hold certain objects or appear in the proposal photo itself, they will be happy to interact and pose with you after you get a resounding "yes!" from your future fiancée.

To add some Star Wars flair to your proposal, consider some of these ideas:
    • Act natural as you get in place for the photo, then suddenly stop and say you're sensing a "disturbance in the Force." You could even ask the photographer or others near you if they feel it too, and they'll likely play along. You could even give a slight wince and be so overcome that you drop to your knee. Grab the ring box from your pocket and pop the question!
    • As you pose in front of the Falcon, insist that you'd want to be Chewbacca if you lived in the Star Wars universe. You could encourage the photographer or others to agree, all with the aim of getting your partner to ask why you want to be Chewbacca so badly. Your response would be that you "don't ever want to be Solo...will you marry me?"
    • You can chat with your partner about Luke Skywalker referring to the Falcon as a "piece of junk" and ask if they agree. Once they give their opinion on the ship, say "well, what about this?" and show them the ring!
For a more formalized approach to your engagement proposal, consider reaching out to Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons. They offer engagement packages that can be customized with photography, dining, and gifts. You can run your idea by them and they can assist with planning the perfect proposal for you and your partner.

I also suggest exploring a Capture Your Moment photo shoot in Batuu, as this will give you more time to set up your plan with the photographer and more opportunities for pictures. Please note that you won't have access to attractions or characters if you choose this option, but you could pose with characters before or after this experience. Kylo Ren and the First Order are known to roam Galaxy's Edge, and you can break your engagement news to Darth Vader over by Star Tours. If he's less than enthused, you can tell him you find his lack of faith disturbing.

I am wishing you an out-of-this world experience for your proposal, AJ! I have no doubt that you'll have everything perfectly planned by next May. If you think of additional questions in the meantime, make sure to ask us here at planDisney. May the Force be with you, always.

    Stay magical,
    Scott
