If we start at Epcot, which closes at 9pm and then hop to Magic kingdom, which closes at 10pm, can we take the monorail back to Epcot parking lot after Magic Kingdom closes?

Hi, there, Debbie! Welcome to planDisney! Your trip is quickly approaching, and it's almost time to start packing, if you haven't already. Thanks for asking your question about Walt Disney World Monorail Transportation. Let's get right to it.

This is a really great question, and I'm so glad you asked. Several years ago, my family got ourselves into somewhat of a predicament in this exact same scenario. We were parked at EPCOT and hopped over to Magic Kingdom using our Park Hopper Option. At some point, it occurred to us that we might not be able to get back to our car if we stayed until Magic Kingdom closes, and we had to scurry on out of there to make it back before the Monorail stopped running. We were sad that we had to miss the fireworks, though.

The EPCOT Monorail stops operations 2 hours after EPCOT closes, which means it should run until 11 PM. In theory, this sounds like it would give you enough time to get back after Magic Kingdom closes. That being said, you'll need to either take the ferry boat or the Monorail back to the Transportation & Ticket Center to transfer to the EPCOT monorail. This can take more time at park closing than you might think as transportation gets quite busy this time of night with so many people trying to get to the same place at the same time. Also important to know is that the Monorail can temporarily cease operations in inclement weather, especially when lightning is in the area. If everything is operating smoothly, you'd be fine, but to be safe, you might want to think about driving to Magic Kingdom when you're ready to hop. The nice thing is, if you've already paid for parking at EPCOT, you won't have to pay again to park at the other theme parks that day. Just show your receipt to the parking attendant when you get to the Transportation & Ticket Center, which also serves as the Magic Kingdom parking lot.

Debbie, I hope this has been helpful to you. Have a great trip, and please visit us again if you think of any other questions we can help with.
