My son is turning 10 before our trip, but is 9 now while I'm buying tickets. Will they let me link an adult ticket to his Disney account even though he's 9?

Greetings, Amberly, and welcome to planDisney! Thanks for asking your question about tickets. Your son is about to be in double digits! Hooray! I'm sure he must be excited about his upcoming birthday.

As you already know, Walt Disney World's ticket options include child tickets for Guests ages 3-9 and adult tickets for Guests ages 10 and up. They can be assigned and reassigned to anyone in your party until they are used for the first time. While adults may not use a child's ticket, children may use an adult's ticket, understanding that refunds aren't available for the difference in price between the two. This means that yes, you should be able to link one of the adult tickets to your son before his birthday as long as no portion of it has already been used by someone else.

You might also consider waiting until after his birthday to assign his ticket to him, as long as you do it before your window opens to purchase Lightning Lane Passes, if you plan to. I do recommend them, especially if you're visiting during a busy time. Lightning Lane Multi Pass is the one I've used the most. It allows you to pre-schedule up to three attractions in advance of your visit. Then, as you scan in to each attraction, you can go back into your My Disney Experience Mobile App and reserve another, and so forth and so on.

I'm not sure how close your son's birthday is to your trip, but if the trip is in celebration of his special day, be sure to pick up a complimentary Happy Birthday button either at Guest Services or at a merchandise shop. Cast Members and other Guests love to extend birthday greetings.

Amberly, I hope this has been helpful to you. Please visit us again if you have any other questions we can help with.

    Grab hold of your dreams!
