Bright Suns Wayne, and welcome to planDisney!
As a fellow Star Wars fan, I’m always on the hunt for new galactic events and experiences. I remember when you could see Jedi Mickey at the Star Wars Weekends in
Hollywood Studios. Unfortunately, those events haven’t happened in many years, but we now have an entire land dedicated to Star Wars with
Galaxy’s Edge!
So, let’s talk about special happenings for May the 4th! There’s usually themed merchandise and food at Hollywood Studios throughout the month. Last year
Disney Parks Blog released a May the 4th Foodie Guide in April, so keep an eye on the blog for this year’s details (check out
last year's offerings for an idea of what to expect). If you can't make it to the parks, some May the 4th merchandise is usually available on the
Disney Store website.
While there haven’t been any official events announced for Disney World, I have seen guests organize unofficial lightsaber meetups at Hollywood Studios for May 4th in the past. The holiday has a way of drawing Star Wars fans to the park, so it can be a fun way to celebrate! If you do plan on coming for May 4th, and are interested in dropping into
Oga’s Cantina or building your own lightsaber at
Savi’s Workshop, I’d recommend booking as soon as your window opens. These experiences are sure to be popular on May 4th! Reservations for
dining and
Enchanting Extras can be booked up to 60 days in advance (if you’re staying at a Disney Resort hotel, you can make reservations for your entire stay, up to a 10-night stay), so be sure to mark your calendar!
I’m also hoping to visit Disneyland one day for their legendary
Star Wars Nite! The specially ticketed event is packed with Star Wars characters, entertainment, and food. Costumes are allowed, so it sounds like such a fun party to coordinate outfits with family or friends--and see all the amazing costumes other guests come up with!
Returning back to Disney World, I wanted to point out two new offerings at our Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in the past year. Last November, Oga’s Cantina got some new food and drink items on the menu. Between the Thruster Roasted Bantha Flatbread and Umbaran Cheese Roll, my friends and I were able to make our Oga’s visit into more of a proper lunch than we have in the past!
And last April,
new adventures from Ahsoka, Andor, and The Mandalorian were added to
Star Tours. This ride is one of my favorites since each journey can be completely different. With the new clips, there are now over 250 storyline variations you can experience when you board your Starspeeder to explore a galaxy far, far away!
I hope this helps you plan a magical May 4th celebration on Batuu! If you have any other questions, we’d love to have you back at planDisney.
