Welcome home, Julie! Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney again--it's always great to chat with a fellow
Disney Vacation Club Member. You've got a friend in me, and I'm here to help you navigate the recent changes to how Guests book attractions at
Walt Disney World Resort. Let's get to it!
The announcement of the new
Lightning Lane system was certainly a big surprise! As my family's planner-in-chief, I am super excited to have the ability to book select attractions in advance once again. The new system combines Fastpass+ with Genie+, and although it may take some getting used to, I think it will be a great change.
A split stay is a pro move, Julie, so hats off to you! It's a great way to experience not one but TWO different Disney Vacation Club resorts--you don't have to pick a favorite! I contacted
Member Services and Walt Disney World Guest Services to ask about how Lightning Lanes will work for split stays. The Cast Members I spoke with explained that there is no way to connect your two stays as one continuous vacation. This means that you will have two separate seven-day booking windows in advance of your November visit, one for each separate resort reservation. Guests can book Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Single Pass beginning at 7:00 AM at that seven-day mark, so be sure to have an alarm set!
For now, there are no changes to the current Virtual Queue system. Guests wishing to snag a boarding group for some popular attractions like
TRON Lightcycle / Run and
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind can book through the
My Disney Experience app at 7:00 AM on the morning they wish to experience the ride.
Julie, I hope this information is helpful as you navigate the Lightning Lane system. I'm sure you are up for the challenge! If we can help with additional questions as your fall vacation approaches, please don't hesitate to reach out again.
Stay Magical!
Susan
