Welcome Home, Joanne! Thanks so much for zooming on over to planDisney for some route guidance for your next
Walt Disney World Resort vacation. Transportation is a big consideration when you're planning your adventures at The Most Magical Place on Earth, so I understand where you're coming from. Let's head out on the highway to track down the information you need!
The Walt Disney World website has a good overview of all the various
transportation options available to get you from Point A to Point B. This is a great starting point to acquaint yourself with the different ways to travel the "World"--and here's some basic things to know before you go:
- A park icon, the Disney Monorail has a direct route to Magic Kingdom Park from Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. There is also an express route to EPCOT from the Transportation and Ticket Center.
- The dependable Disney bus fleet transports Guests from Disney Resort Hotels to the theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs. Each resort has a designated bus stop with great signage, including a screen showing when the next bus headed to your destination will arrive!
- You can take water transportation from several Resort Hotels to get where you're going. This includes a water taxi that takes Guests to Magic Kingdom Park from several different resorts, and the Friendship Boats that connect the BoardWalk area resorts to EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios. There is also the Sassagoula River Cruise, which welcomes Guests aboard from Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter and Riverside, Disney's Old Key West Resort, and Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa for a scenic sail to Disney Springs.
- The Disney Skyliner takes Guests high above the trees for a bird's-eye view of Walt Disney World on their way to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. Catch this high-flying aerial gondola at Disney's Art of Animation Resort, Disney's Riviera Resort, Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, and Disney's Pop Century Resort.
Joanne, an easy way to plan your journey between destinations is available in the
My Disney Experience app. From the home screen, select the three lines at lower right, then navigate to "Getting Around" and click "Transportation and Parking". You'll see a map here-you can click on any location and get directions between that spot and any other destination!
I hope this is a helpful how-to for your transportation needs! It's been a pleasure helping with your question today--please don't hesitate to reach out again if we can help add any extra pixie dust to your next Disney vacation.
Ka-Chow!
