Hey Howdy Hey Merissa and welcome to planDisney!
When Walt Disney first envisioned building a theme park, it was one where the whole family would be able to share the experience. This has evolved to allow not only the family but also those with disabilities access to many of the attractions their family and friends will experience.
Disability Access Service (DAS) is such a great tool for those who need it to experience the Magic of the parks with their loved ones with accommodations to help them during their vacations. Thank you so much for stopping by with your question on the specifics of DAS. I will be happy to give you a little more information on the
Advanced Planning Options and get you ready for your trip later this month.
Merissa, you have it right that once you qualify for DAS, if you pre-register online you will have access to booking advanced selections for 2 attractions each day before your trip. I am sorry to hear you are having issues booking your selections for Disney's Hollywood Studios. There are many reasons why you might not have had availability at the time you checked, but the first tip, I would urge you to keep checking. Not only do plans change for parkgoers but availability is updated at times and you might find new times available by checking back periodically.
When it comes to DAS advanced selections, Disney may only have a certain number of selections per park and attraction. Once availability has been met this does not necessarily reflect same-day access in the parks. This may just show that it might be a busy day in Hollywood Studios and you may have to be a little more flexible when booking your next selection but I would not say there would be no availability at all for same-day selections.
I'm sure you are already aware, but once you are qualified for DAS, you should see this access update in your My Disney Experience account. This will allow you to
book your next DAS same-day selection through the app after your check-in to your current one. This, of course, would be available through your son's account.
One other document that might help prep for your upcoming vacation is access to attractions. If your son may require assistance with transfers, Disney does have a document available outlining
mobility requirements for all attractions in the parks. This may be super helpful to prep for each attraction and requirements to get to and not the ride vehicles for your Magical vacation.
I hope this was helpful as a review and some tips to consider on your upcoming vacation. I hope you and your family have an Enchanting time and please feel free to stop back with any questions you may have, we are always happy to help!
Have a Magical day,
Nick
