I love how some tastes of "home" can transport us right back to our favorite place! My family and I have enjoyed following #DisneyMagicMoments: Cooking Up the Magic series on the
Disney Parks Blog. My kids even surprised me by making
Tonga Toast from Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for Mother's Day -- yum!!
Schinkennudeln -- a pasta gratin with ham, onion, and cheese -- has been a signature dish at the
Festival Marketplace booth in Germany for several years and is featured again this year at the
2020 Taste of EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival. My friend and fellow panelist
Angie recently visited the festival, and reports the Schinkennudeln was one of her family's favorite dishes as well! Although a
recipe for Nudel Gratin has appeared in festival cookbooks and also featured on the Disney Parks Blog, that version did not include ham. You may find some copycat recipes out there -- try doing a quick internet search for "Disney Schinkennudeln".
I decided I'm going to give the Nudel Gratin recipe a try and add some diced ham and sauteed onions to see if it tastes like the Schinkennudeln I remember. I am hoping your son approves!
