Me and my son, aged 13, will be visiting Hollywood theme park.we want to reserve tickets for Savis and the Droid building workshops. We each want to build our own droids and lightsabres. is it possible? (I'm asking because of the age restriction)

Hello there, Ella! Welcome to planDisney. I have some exciting news for you and your son! As someone who has built both a custom lightsaber at Savi's Workshop and a droid at the Droid Depot, I can honestly say these are two of the most unforgettable experiences you'll find anywhere at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

You'll be happy to know that your 13-year-old is absolutely old enough to build both a lightsaber and a droid! As long as you've made separate reservations for each builder, the two of you will each be able to create your own custom lightsaber and your own astromech companion. Experiencing both with your young Padawan is sure to become one of those Disney memories you'll talk about for years to come. I also recommend arriving about 15 minutes before each reservation to give yourselves plenty of time to check in and soak in the atmosphere before your adventure begins.

Once your creations are complete, don't rush off just yet! Some of the best moments happen simply by wandering Black Spire Outpost with your newly built droid or ignited lightsaber. One of my favorite places to stop is the Trilon Wishing Tree, located just outside Savi's Workshop. It's a beautiful backdrop for commemorating your experience, and you'll often spot fellow builders proudly showing off their newest creations.

If you're looking for even more memorable photos, keep an eye out for Disney PhotoPass photographers throughout Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. They're frequently stationed near the Millennium Falcon and throughout the marketplace, and they're wonderful at suggesting dynamic poses that make your lightsaber or droid the star of the shot. Some of my favorite vacation photos have come from these spontaneous PhotoPass moments.

Before you leave Batuu, I highly recommend returning after sunset if your schedule allows. As evening settles over Black Spire Outpost, the glowing lightsabers, illuminated buildings, and ambient sounds create an atmosphere unlike anything else at Walt Disney World Resort. Standing beneath the stars with your custom lightsaber in hand truly feels like you've stepped into your very own Star Wars adventure.

Ella, I hope this helps you feel ready to embark on your journey to a galaxy far, far away. If you have any other questions as you continue planning your Walt Disney World vacation, please visit us again here at planDisney. We'd be delighted to help.

May the Force be with you!
