Hi, I am a single mom going to visit Disney world with two kids. Do I have to approach an agent or it's doable without one? Also, I am planning to celebrate both kids birthday over there. Need some ideas for that. Thanks Lavanya

    Hello Lavanya!

Welcome to planDisney! I'm so excited that you are looking to plan something special for your little ones! Finding a travel agent or doing it yourself is a personal decision. I have used a travel agent before and had a negative experience as I felt like my plans were not working out and I wanted more control. However, I have had friends use travel agents with great success. Let me break down some basics for you to make the best choice.

Tickets- There are some special deals for tickets offered this year for the summer. I especially like the 4-Park Magic Ticket which lets you visit each of the 4 Walt Disney World Theme Parks per day. It is a good value and it's perfect for first-time guests who want a complete and straightforward experience.

Resort- I prefer staying onsite at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel when with my family. I like the convenience of being a guest on the property with the Early Theme Park Entry and staying in the magic.

Dining and Enchanting Extras- Dining reservations for Table Service restaurants such as Cinderella's Royal Table and Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom Park are great places to celebrate a birthday! What characters or themes do your kids like? I'm sure you can find something that will be a treat for them. Enchanting Extras can range from ordering a Celebration Cake for a meal or a princess or knight makeover at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Magic Kingdom Park. Reservations for both dining and Enchanting Extras open up 60 days before you arrive at 6 AM EST. I suggest booking the most desired dining or experience first and then moving down your list as reservations can be booked quickly.

When reserving on the Walt Disney World website directly you can create a package with Tickets and Resorts and even a dining plan! All of your plans can be viewed and modified through your My Disney Experience Mobile App which is a great tool you will need throughout your trip. If you feel that this may be a bit overwhelming know that you can come back to planDisney for help or consider finding a resourceful travel agent. The lovely people at planDisney have a great checklist you can go through and I'm making sure to link you to a First-Timers video that is a must-see. Know that whatever you do, I know it will be magical!

    Happy Planning!
