    Several questions. Trying to decide whether to stay in 2 rooms or family suite? Should I upgrade from quick to basic dining plan? We are looking at value resorts and the ages are 50 23 23 27 28 and 4

    Hi Cindy,

    While I have not stayed at a family suite mainly because I am a Disney Vacation Club member, I always vote for the suite over two rooms.

    The family suites allow you to have two full baths and a separate sleeping area. This allows two people to be getting ready in the morning as well as a comfortable chill area. The bigger advantage is the kitchenette which includes a refrigerator and microwave which you will not find in two separate rooms. An order from an online grocer such as Garden Grocer for breakfast items and you have saved the price difference by eating breakfast in your room. You can also order snacks and drinks for your trip as well. Plus no worrying about the location of the two rooms and if Disney can accommodate a joining room.

    Now for the dining plan challenge! I am not a big fan of the dining plan MAINLY because I can physically not eat all that food! However, if I was going to go with a dining plan, I would go with the basic. This allows you to grab a quick meal and enjoy a sit down meal each day along with a snack. Even though I love french fries, I do not want them every meal which is what I feel the quick service offers. 

    My family always plans dinner at table service restaurant on our trips. It allows us a guaranteed seat to eat, recap our favorite moments from the day and then decide how to spend the next few hours.
