I have seen a query from another person if we could come back to a park the same day and it said if it is Christmas day we might not be able to as it will reach capacity, if there is a reservation system going on right now, why would it reach capacity?

Welcome to planDisney, Jeremy. I'm happy to answer your question today.

Wow, Christmas Day at the Walt Disney World Resort! What a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays. I've been answering a lot of holiday questions today and it's definitely got me in the mood to celebrate! Did you know that on Christmas Day, Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade is usually performed during regular park hours at Magic Kingdom Park? It's usually exclusive to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, but during the last week of the year, day Guests are usually treated to this special parade too!

If you have a Theme Park Reservation for a park (required for all Guests until January 9, 2024) and then leave to hop to another park, it does not guarantee that you will be able to re-enter your original park later on in the day. While the parks rarely get to capacity, the week of Christmas, and especially Christmas Day, will often find certain parks reaching capacity. As I confirmed with a friendly Cast Member this morning, if a park is in danger of reaching capacity and you'd like to experience it later on in the day in addition to earlier, it's always safer to stay put.

The Walt Disney World Resort is a well-oiled machine and they usually follow different guidelines when a park starts to fill up. At times, Guests with Theme Park Reservations and advanced dining reservations may be given priority access to a park as it gets close to capacity. At other times, it simply would no longer be safe to let any more Guests into the park until some Guests leave, no matter what reservations they may have. In short, if it's an exceptionally busy day where the parks have historically had to close due to capacity, plan to stay for the day and only exit if you feel comfortable with the possibility of not being able to re-enter.

Jeremy, I hope you have a wonderful holiday visit to the resort. Please be sure to reach out if you have any other questions. And when you are at the resort, never be afraid to bring your question to a friendly Cast Member. They can give you the most up-to-date information and give you a suggestion on how to handle your specific situation!

    It's time to celebrate,
    Matt
