Hot Dog, Hot Dog, Hot Diggity Dog, Brittany!
We're so glad to see you back at planDisney with another question. I love that you're bringing your furry friend along during your stay at
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside, which is one of the
4 dog-friendly hotels at Walt Disney World Resort. As a fellow dog-loving family, we hope to bring our own Disney Doodle on vacation with us one day, too!
As I'm sure you know, your pup is welcome to stretch out and enjoy your resort room and designated outdoor walkways and
relief areas, but they are not permitted in common areas like pools, restaurants, and merchandise locations. Your dog must also be leashed or in a pet carrier when outside of your room.
While your resort is included in the
special character appearances during Cool KIDS’ SUMMER, I wouldn't plan on any photo sessions unless your dog is a
service animal. If your pup is a trained service animal, they'll be able to
use resort transportation to visit the parks, experience certain attractions, and pose with their favorite characters right alongside you,
as panelist Lizzie shares here. Otherwise, these experiences are off-limits to pets.
I hate to be the bearer of such "ruff" news, but I'm hopeful your four-legged pal will still sniff out a magical vacation. I recommend snapping some arrival-day photos of them with their Pluto’s Welcome Kit and using
Best Friends Pet Care for daycare on days when you'll be out of your room for more than 7 hours. My panel pal
Elaine used the service for her faithful companion, who gave the experience unlimited tail wags and two paws up!
Brittany, please come back with any additional questions ahead of your check-in. We're always ready to sit, stay, and help guests have a magical vacation!
Magic and memories,
Amy
