Hi there, John!
Welcome to planDisney where it's a doggone good day to be discussing two of my favorite topics:
The Most Magical Place on Earth and four-legged family members. I recently visited Mickey Mouse's house at
Disneyland Resort and noticed he had several framed photos of Pluto displayed in his home. Clearly, he's a proud Dog Dad, and it sounds like you are too, John!
I love sharing the magic of Walt Disney World Resort with those I hold most dear, so I completely understand your desire to introduce your pups to Mickey and Minnie. If your dogs assist you or your family members as service animals, then they are more than welcome to accompany you to Walt Disney World theme parks. I also confirmed with a helpful Cast Member that while
service dogs are not permitted on certain attractions, your favorite Disney characters will happily pose with them at meet-and-greets (no hiding under the porch necessary) for some paws-itively adorable photos.
If your dogs are simply beloved pets, unfortunately, they will not be granted entrance to Walt Disney World Resort theme parks. While I understand this might be disappointing for many pet parents, I am happy to share that
select Disney Resort hotels are pet-friendly for those hoping to share a bit of pixie dust with their pups. They'll even receive a welcome kit from Mickey's good boy, Pluto, at check-in. While your dogs won't be able to take photos with characters at their Disney Resort hotel, the theming of the resorts will provide some excellent photo-ops. At
Disney's Art of Animation Resort, your dogs could pop into select scenes and pose with larger-than-life statues from films such as Finding Nemo, The Lion King, Cars, and The Little Mermaid. I can think of no better way to make them part of your world!
Finally, if you can't bring your dogs to The Most Magical Place on Earth, you can always bring a bit of the magic home to them! On a recent vacation, I spotted some great apparel, accessories, and toys for pets at several
stores inside the theme parks. As avid Disney theme park snackers, my husband and I chose to bring home Mickey waffle and ice cream bar chew toys for our trio of canines who received them as if they were enjoying them on Main Street, U.S.A.
I hope this was helpful, John, and that you have a
paw-some vacation. If any additional questions arise as you are planning, you're barking up the right tree, so feel free to
stop back by. I'm always happy to help!
Hakuna Matata,
Lizzie
