Ahoy, Mackenzie! I am thrilled to welcome you to planDisney and aboard your first
Disney Cruise Line adventure! You have selected the best itinerary for your introduction to cruising.
Alaska is the great American safari, and enjoying this alongside Mickey and his pals is absolute perfection.
I have so many thoughts to share with you on what to expect and recommendations. Let's start with one of my favorites: dining. Disney Cruise Line has a magical approach to dinner, known as "
rotational dining." The
Disney Wonder has three main dining rooms: Triton's, Animator's Palate, and Tiana's Place. You have an assigned rotation, table number and dining team. Each night is unique, and you get to experience it all! Your dining team is with you each evening, so they get to know you and become part of your cruise experience. Since this is your first cruise, I wouldn't miss dinner.
This leads me to another question and beloved topic:
Palo. This is a must! I've done both dinner and brunch. Both are amazing, but brunch is so exceptional that it could leave Mary Poppins tongue-tied trying to describe it. The Parmesan-crusted chicken, the calzone, the desserts... As a concierge Guest, you should be able to do both brunch and dinner, but I would choose brunch.
For
Port Adventures, you will want to make sure to do the
Exclusive Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show (KE41) in Ketchikan. Lumberjacks and your Disney pals make for an entertaining afternoon. We enjoyed whale watching in Juneau. It was breathtaking and magnificent. In Skagway, we took the
White Pass Express, went panning for gold, and melted over sled dogs in training. The Port Adventure combinations change a bit from year to year, but I think whales, sled dogs, trains and lumberjacks are great ideas for you and your little Mousketeer. The only advice is the train may be a bit long for a toddler, so pack some snacks and coloring books or other light entertainment. The views are spectacular, but they may not captivate your little one's attention for the entire time without some help.
On Alaska cruises, Anna and Elsa reign! You can enjoy the Broadway-caliber production of
Frozen, A Musical Spectacular and
Let It Go! with the
Frozen Deck Party.
Be sure to download the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. It helps with planning and counting down the days leading up to your cruise. Once on board, it
automagically transforms into different functions that let you know about character greetings, onboard entertainment, activities, your dining rotation, and everything else!
Mackenzie, I hope this information helps. If you have any other questions, please cruise back by
planDisney. We're all aboard to help!
SEAS the Adventure!
